The small village of Upsettlington, nestled on the the northern bank of the Tweed River would suggest it is in Scotland. However, in November 1292 was deemed neutral territory and the village hosted Edward 1 and 102 official representatives to decide who should be King of Scotland. The decision made at that meeting eventually triggered a 100 year war between England and Scotland. Caught in the middle were the people of Upsettlington, neither Scottish or English. Home to both sides for a number of people who would be called to play leading parts in the history of the Borders. In the midst of their story a 1,200 year old mystery of opposing international clandestine societies, heretics and inquisitors. One to extend knowledge and one to suppress it.
